The Story so far

Dear visitor,

Welcome to my website. I am a musician, an artist, and a photographer. Here you will find a curated collection of my work. I absolutely love to create. My musical inspirations range from classical, to rock, to metal, to indie, to Celtic, to folk, to rap, even jazz, especially jazz! I mean c’mon, it’s all great. I was trained in art at the University of Michigan and I love everything from the old masters, to those crazy geniuses like Escher and Dalí, to modern day digital art and animation. I just walk around in a constant state of ‘inspired’. At the end of day though, I am here to tell a story. Everything I create, exists for its narrative.

I began my journey in music at a young age with the piano lessons that my grandmother insisted on. I am forever grateful. That was the flame that set the course of this road. Years later, like many young men who love music, I picked up a guitar, taught myself a few chords, and learned a few songs. I couldn’t sing back then, but I sang anyway. Next? You guessed it. I just had to start writing my own stuff. So I began turning my experiences into lyrics. But that wasn’t enough, I wanted to compose real songs. However, I was in a band of exactly one, so the only way to compose the songs that I had in mind was to learn all the instruments that you need for a band. And so I did. From piano and guitar I moved on to bass, then all sorts of percussion including standard drums, then just a wild variety of accompanying instruments. But still something was missing. I had always romanticized the violin, and it lived in the back of my mind for a long time. Eventually I bit the bullet and got myself the old “pawn shop violin”. Yikes. By far the most temperamental instrument I have ever played. But many years and several violins later, I have finally become… Adequate! And lastly in order to put everything together, it was necessary to become a self-taught music engineer and producer. There you have it.

My journey with art must have begun right around the moment I realized scratching one thing on another thing made a picture. I’ve been doing this as long as I can remember. Drawing was my hobby as a kid, and eventually I ended up attending college for fine arts. As it stands my favorite medium is traditional oils. Over the course of time I have worked in most common mediums, from acrylics, to inks and pastels, and the more contemporary mediums of digital art and digitally rendered mixed-media pieces. A while back I began studying photography and filmmaking, and though I am still a hobbyist, I am beginning to see that the true professionals are, in many ways, still hobbyists themselves. As with music, my goal with any piece of art that I create is to relay a story, and create a narrative that gives each viewer something tangible to hold on to. I do not use artificial intelligence in any of my work. Each piece is the culmination of dozens of hours of work and each is meticulously hand painted on canvas or panel using oils or acrylics. All digital work is hand drawn and painted in Photoshop using a digital drawing pad.

Current projects: I am finishing up this first album and I expect it to be completed this month. I have a second album ready to record once this one is done. I am going to need to make a couple music videos of some kind, I have been studying filmmaking for the past few years but I would love some assistance if any videographers out there would like to collaborate. And of course I am continuously working on art and photography projects in the background. So, I am still a long way off from quitting my day job, but I think things are panning out nicely. Who knows what the future holds?

Thanks for checking out my website, I hope you enjoy your time here!
